Usage Notes
慢慢来 literally means 'come slowly' but functions as 'take your time / no rush'. It's a common reassurance in Chinese that reflects a cultural preference for patience over urgency. Use it when someone is stressed or rushing.
放心 (fàngxīn) means to 'set your heart down / at ease' — it implies you can trust the situation. 别担心 is more direct: 'don't worry.' Both work in reassurance contexts, but 放心 sounds warmer and more specific to an outcome.
Chinese speakers often show concern by commenting on physical appearance: 你脸色不好 (you don't look well) or 你瘦了 (you've lost weight). This is not rude — it is a culturally common way of expressing care and attentiveness towards someone's wellbeing.
