Dialogue 1

甲:我猜你是中国人。
jiǎ: wǒ cāi nǐ shì zhōng guó rén.

乙:没错。你呢,你是哪国人?
yǐ: méi cuò. nǐ ne, nǐ shì nǎ guó rén?

甲:我是美国人。我出生在洛杉矶。
jiǎ: wǒ shì měi guó rén. wǒ chū shēng zài luò shān jī.

乙:你的汉语说得真好。你在哪儿学的汉语呢?
yǐ: nǐ de hàn yǔ shuō de zhēn hǎo. nǐ zài nǎr xué de hàn yǔ ne?

甲:在美国。
jiǎ: zài měi guó.

乙:真没想到。你们国家的汉语教育一定不错。
yǐ: zhēn méi xiǎng dào. nǐ mén guó jiā de hàn yǔ jiào yù yí dìng bù cuò.

A: I bet you are from China.
B: That's right. What about you? Where are you from?
A: I'm American. I was born in Los Angeles.
B: Your Chinese is excellent. Where did you learn Chinese?
A: In the United States.
B: Fancy that! Your country must have a very good record of Chinese language education.

Dialogue 2

甲:你的英语说得真不错,先生。你是哪国人?
jiǎ: nǐ de yīng yǔ shuō de zhēn bù cuò, xiān sheng. nǐ shì nǎ guó rén?

乙:我是法国人。
yǐ: wǒ shì fǎ guó rén.

甲:那么,你是地道的法国人,是吗?
jiǎ: nà me, nǐ shì dì dào de fǎ guó rén, shì ma?

乙:一点儿没错。可是由于我生长在美国,我大部分时间讲英语 。
yǐ: yī diǎnr méi cuò. kě shì yóu yú wǒ shēng zhǎng zài měi guó, wǒ dà bù fēn shí jiān jiǎng yīng yǔ.

甲:那你有时候也说法语吗?
jiǎ: nà nǐ yǒu shí hòu yě shuō fǎ yǔ ma?

乙:当然。我在家里更喜欢和家里人说法语。
yǐ: dāng rán. wǒ zài jiā lǐ gèng xǐ huān hé jiā lǐ rén shuō fǎ yǔ.

A: Your speak very good English, sir. Where are you from?
B: I'm from France.
A: So, you are a native of France, aren't you?
B: Exactly. But as I grew up in the United States, I speak English most of the time.
A: Do you sometimes speak French?
B: Of course. I prefer speaking French with my family at home.

Dialogue 3

甲:吴小姐,你是哪里人?
jiǎ: wú xiǎo jiě, nǐ shì nǎ lǐ rén?

乙:你猜我是哪里人?
yǐ: nǐ cāi wǒ shì nǎ lǐ rén?

甲:你像南方人。
jiǎ: nǐ xiàng nán fāng rén.

乙:说对了。我是广东人。
yǐ: shuō duì le. wǒ shì guǎng dōng rén.

A: Miss Wu, where are you from?
B: Guess where I am from.
A: You look like a southerner.
B: You've got it. I'm Cantonese.
